Pool Club

Our club aims allow people to pursue Pool and Cue Sports at the level they wish to. For players new to the sport we have more relaxed frames on Tuesday evenings from 8pm at the Student Union. We run a doubles tournament every semester that allows new players to improve their skills in being matched with a more experienced player. We also offer tuition sessions every other week. We have a singles tournament, and a women’s tournament that also run each semester to provide more competitive, individual pool. New players can join the B-Team to develop their skills and play more pool. We enter our B-Team and A-Team into the local pub Pool League, and players will get a chance to travel to different East Neuk pubs each week to play against other teams. We also offer entry to our internally run leagues. We run a ladder tournament, in which players can challenge each other, a premier league, in which higher quality players play regular, scheduled fixtures and a ‘ranked matches’ league, in which everyone is entered and can play matches to gain ranking points and ascend a player hierarchy. Each semester our tournaments and the ladder culminate in ‘Adam Fleming Finals Day’, which is a live-streamed event of the finals, with commentary from other pool players attending.

We organise several events for any interested Alumni throughout the year. We encourage any keen alumni to attend our 8-Ball BUCS Tournament, the largest tournament we participate in annually. Alumni attend as spectators and stay in their own caravan, and can participate in the evening events ran, such as Speed Pool and the Flyer Tournament. We also host Alumni for our Alumni festival weekend, where we hold our current vs Alumni match and a variety of other fun tournaments and socials.

Throughout the year, we run a number of stand-alone tournaments and events, as well as attending events with other universities. We run a charity RAG Week tournament, a one-handed Pool Flyer, and a Monthly medal tournament each month. This year we also attended a varsity match with Dundee, a tournament with the other Universities in the East of Scotland, and a Scottish Universities tournament. These inter-university events are very well attended, and we tend to perform well, last year winning the East of Scotland Team tournament.
